Practical Considerations
- Things the teacher should be alert for:
- Make sure the students are taking notes and not disrupting other students.
- Watch for noise level during the work time at the end of class. Students are to work on the worksheets on their own, not in groups.
- The ways in which the lesson activities, objectives and assessments are developmentally responsive:
· Students can produce responses at their level of readiness (more or less examples or shorter or longer verbal summary)
· Weaker students will be provided with scaffolding (see below)
- How the lesson components could be differentiated by readiness, interest, or learning profile
Ideas for differentiating based on readiness:
Resource Students (Special Ed)
• Provide summary sheets for each of the slides with teacher notes.
• Provide a list of questions that involves more recall and fact based answers for the end-of-the-unit exam.
Gifted Students
• Allow the student to analyze a few of the Confucian Analects, which would allow them deeper investigation.
• Encourage the students to come up with their own Analects based on their beliefs.
English Language Learners
• Allow the students to complete the worksheets in their native language, then tell me what it means in English. Also supply handouts of the slides in their first language.
